Gasparillo grandmother murdered

GASPARILLO grandmother Chanday Lalloo was no match for the criminal/s who attacked her on Saturday night, when she was knifed to death. Her killing takes the murder toll to 401, compared to 400 for the same period last year. Read more here

TT Express waits for best buyer

The National Infrastructure Development Co Ltd (Nidco) is hoping to sell the TT Express at the highest price possible.  The vessel will be sold in its current state because conducting any type of repairs on the vessel will not raise its resale value. Read more here

Businessman robbed for third time in one year

A Westmoorings businessman is seriously considering selling and leaving T&T after he was robbed three times within the past year. The latest robbery took place just around midnight on Saturday at the 12-acre Cumuto estate owned by Dexter Nicholls and his family. Read more here

Gov’t to accelerate growth in agriculture sector

GOVERNMENT, through the Ministry of Agriculture, will be accelerating efforts to achieve growth in the agriculture sector in 2020 and beyond. This is according to Minister of Agriculture Noel Holder. He was delivering remarks during an Interfaith Service held on Sunday to usher in Agriculture Month, which begins on October 1, 2019. Read more here

New Survey Negates Interest Rate As Primary Barrier To Bank Loans

Few local businesses in urban centres have ever accessed a business loan or even have internet connectivity, according to new findings from the Jamaica Survey of Establishments conducted by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (Statin) and published by the Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ. The survey found that one of 10 establishments have ever accessed a business loan and seven out of 10 establishments do not have internet access. Read more here

Saudi crown prince warns of 'Iran threat' to global oil

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has warned that oil prices may soar if the world does not act to deter Iran. He said failure to act could embolden Iran and lead to war, which he said would ruin the global economy. Read more here

Washington at war: Dems aim for speedy impeachment push as Trump threatens whistleblower

Washington (CNN)Lawyers for a whistleblower who accused Donald Trump of pressuring Ukraine to intervene in the 2020 election warn that the President's threats pose a grave risk to their client's safety. Trump meanwhile escalated his attacks on the whistleblower -- demanding to meet his "accuser" face to face during a day of rage-filled tweets about the Democratic attempt to impeach him.
