CF Industries files antidumping petition in US against T&T

CF In­dus­tries Hold­ings, In­cor­po­rat­ed, through cer­tain of its pro­duc­tion fa­cil­i­ties, has filed pe­ti­tions with the US De­part­ment of Com­merce and the US In­ter­na­tion­al Trade Com­mis­sion (ITC) re­quest­ing the ini­ti­a­tion of an­tidump­ing and coun­ter­vail­ing du­ty in­ves­ti­ga­tions on im­ports of urea am­mo­ni­um ni­trate so­lu­tions (UAN) from Rus­sia and Trinidad and To­ba­go. Abdool-Richards: No Delta variant found in T&T

Prin­ci­pal Med­ical Of­fi­cer Dr Maryam Ab­dool-Richards has dis­pelled claims that the Delta vari­ant of COVID-19 is in T&T.

Speak­ing dur­ing the Min­istry of Health’s vir­tu­al me­dia brief­ing yes­ter­day, she said symp­toms of this vari­ant in­clude a dry cough and short­ness of breath, which close­ly mir­ror symp­toms as­so­ci­at­ed with oth­er vari­ants of the virus.

She ad­vised, “Once a per­son or an in­di­vid­ual has any of those sus­pect symp­toms…the com­mon and the less com­mon symp­toms, they are ad­vised to im­me­di­ate­ly seek med­ical at­ten­tion.” Read more here…

Augustine slams autonomy debate: Robinson rolling in his grave

Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) deputy political leader Farley Augustine said the debate on the "autonomy bills" in Parliament would have had former prime minister and president ANR Robinson "rolling in his grave."

Robinson, a Tobagonian, presented a motion to Parliament in 1977 on internal self-government.

However, Augustine said the debate in Parliament on Monday and Tuesday descended into a "cuss out" between the PNM and the UNC. Read more here…

MINISTER of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, Gail Teixeira, has underscored that the people’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C) Government is committed to governing Guyana in the interest of all Guyanese as outlined in its 2020 elections manifesto.
Minister Teixeira was, at the time, reacting to comments from US Congressman, Hank Johnson, who, in a statement on Wednesday, said Guyana’s wealth is for all the people of Guyana, irrespective of their ethnicity. Read more here…

CCP 100: Xi warns China will not be 'oppressed' in anniversary speech

China's President Xi Jinping has warned that foreign powers will "get their heads bashed" if they attempt to bully or influence the country. He delivered a defiant speech at an event marking the centenary of the ruling Communist Party on Thursday.

Mr Xi also said Beijing would not allow "sanctimonious preaching", in remarks widely seen as directed at the US. Read more here…

 

Top Trump Org executive surrenders to prosecutors ahead of expected criminal indictment

Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg surrendered to the Manhattan district attorney's office Thursday morning ahead of expected criminal charges against him and the company in connection with alleged tax crimes, his attorney told CNN.

Weisselberg is set to be arraigned later Thursday at a lower Manhattan courthouse. Read more here…
