Fraudsters rushing to offload bogus $100

 Small business owners are being asked to be wary of counterfeit $100 notes. Speaking with the Express yesterday, president of the Arima Business Association Reval Chattergoon said, earlier in the day, at one gas station in Curepe, there were 12 attempts to use fraudulent notes. Read more here…

Judge calls on CJ Archie over court mail fail

A High Court judge is asking for an urgent meeting with the Chief Justice to discuss issues relating to the Judiciary’s “Court Mail” system. Asking for the meeting is Justice Frank Seepersad who said there was no consultation with judges in relation to the system. Read more here…

Jamaica Has Achieved External Sustainability, Declares Finance Minister As He Emphasises Importance Of Healthy NIR

Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke explained that Jamaica has now achieved external sustainability, which means the country is now in a position today to pay and service its external obligations as they become due. This external sustainability, he argued, is one that we have not been able to achieve for a long time. He warned that this would be compromised should the central bank use the NIR to stem the unpredictable movement of the exchange rate. Russia banned from 2020 Olympics and 2022 World Cup over doping scandal

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has unanimously agreed to ban Russia from major international sporting competitions -- notably the Olympics and the World Cup -- for four years over doping non-compliance. WADA's compliance review committee (CRC) had suggested several sanctions because of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency's (RUSADA) failure to cooperate fully during probes into Russian sport. Finnish minister Sanna Marin, 34, to become world's youngest PM

The transport minister was picked by her Social Democratic party after its leader, Antti Rinne, quit as PM. She will be sworn in this week. She will lead a centre-left coalition with four other parties, all headed by women, three of whom are under 35. Read more here…
