Njisane Phillip bags keirin bronze at Pan Am Cycling Champs
Trinidad and Tobago cyclist Njisane Phillip captured a bronze medal at the Elite Pan American Track Cycling Championships in Lima, Peru, on Saturday night. Phillip, competing in the men’s keirin final, grabbed third spot behind the Colombian pair of Kevin Quintero (gold) and Santiago Ramirez (silver). TT rider Keron Bramble finished ninth overall. Cox defends ‘greedy’ comment amid outcry
Having faced a barrage of criticism for her “greedy people” comment, Social Development Minister Donna Cox says she remains on the side of the destitute and will continue to do her best to help them. Cox had come under fire for saying “there are some people in need and some in greed,” in response to long lines for food outside South Park Plaza in San Fernando last Friday. Among those condemning her were the Opposition United National Congress, political leader of the Movement for Social Justice David Abdulah and several other social media activists. Read more here

Gas-to-shore project likely to last 25 years
Once operational, the heavily-touted gas-to-shore project will have a duration of approximately 25 years, according to ExxonMobil’s subsidiary, Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (EEPGL). In a project summary recently submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the oil company said that the US$900 million project will be executed in several phases – engineering, construction, commissioning, operations and decommissioning. In the window of a vintage shop in the Sydney suburb of Annandale, a sign expresses the frustration of many Australians with their country's pandemic strategy. "Dear Customers, We will be closed for the foreseeable future because Scott Morrison is a useless dickhead who only ordered enough vaccine to vaccinate 4% of the population 18 months into a pandemic," reads the sign, shared on Twitter, in reference to the Australian Prime Minister.
