126 NEW covid19 cases have been reported over the past 24 hours, a release from the Ministry of Health confirmed on Sunday afternoon. The announcement came hours after police swooped down on a party in Kelly Village, Caroni and arrested hundreds for contravening covid19 public health regulations. Read more here
Judge rules deported migrants must be returned
A High Court Judge has ordered the T&T Defence Force to return a group of Venezuelan migrant women and children, who were deported with legal proceedings pending yesterday. Justice Avason Quinlan-Williams made the order at the end of a protracted emergency virtual hearing, last night. Quinlan-Williams ordered that the 19 women and children, be brought into custody in time for a follow up hearing this afternoon. Read more here

Young: Illegal entry into TT being curbed
National Security Minister Stuart Young says robust efforts by police and the military have significantly reduced illegal maritime movement of people and contraband. Young anticipated these efforts will be bolstered by the police’s new, revamped marine branch. Responding to questions from Opposition MPs in the House of Representatives, Young explained that while no country in the world can completely prevent illegal penetration of its borders, TT continues to do the best it can with the resources at its disposal. Barkeepers Association issues apology to PM Rowley
The Barkeepers & Operators Association of Trinidad & Tobago (BOATT) has issued an apology to Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, for statements made by former interim president, Teron Mohan, following the PM’s press conference, yesterday, Saturday 21 November 2020. Teron Mohan had described as "a slap in the face" Dr Rowley's announcement on Saturday that $10 million will be allocated to assist bar and restaurant employees affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Massive Hilton Hotel for McDoom
A mega Hilton Hotel will soon tower over the community of McDoom on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD), where large businesses, particularly those related to the nascent oil-and-gas industry, have already started to ‘sprout.’ The over 200-room, multimillion-dollar hotel will add more life to the communities of McDoom and Houston, which are already home to businesses such as Gafoors, Guyana Shore Base Inc, Farm Supplies Limited and Pritipaul Singh Investments Inc., among others. Grandmother And Grandchildren Murdered In St Catherine
An 81 year-old grandmother and her two grandchildren were murdered in Tryall Heights, Spanish Town, St Catherine this afternoon. The Gleaner understands that gunmen barged into the home of the senior citizen, Iciline McFarlane, about 4:30 p.m. and shot her and her granddaughters, 10 year-old Christina McFarlane and six year-old Mishane, several times before escaping in a waiting car. Covid-19: Oxford University vaccine is highly effective
The coronavirus vaccine developed by the University of Oxford is highly effective at stopping people developing Covid-19 symptoms, a large trial shows. Interim data suggests 70% protection, but the researchers say the figure may be as high as 90% by tweaking the dose. The results will be seen as a triumph, but come after Pfizer and Moderna vaccines showed 95% protection. Read more here
