Professional Qualifications Required

Formal Education: Secondary School; • 5 CXC/CSEC O Levels inclusive of Math and English • Professional Certification in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration from a recognized institution or equivalent combination of experience and training • Valid driver’s license • Certificate in Microsoft Office -Word, Excel, Outlook • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the AC Industry, leading a team

Technical / Vocational Skills Required

• Possess all tools required under the Trainee Tools Schedule; Detail oriented and possess the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner; Operate a variety of specialty HVAC maintenance equipment and tools in a safe and effective manner; Expert knowledge of components and controls as it pertains to large air conditioning systems; Interpret, explain and enforce department policies and procedures; Work independently in the absence of supervision; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; Maintain mental capacity which allows for effective interaction and communication with others; Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities; Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties

• OBJECTIVES AND GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION: SUMMARY OF JOB: The HVAC Technician performs skilled, complex work in the repair, maintenance and installation of ventilating and air conditioning equipment and systems. POSITION STATUS: Contract

Job Details / Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:

·         1 (Daily) - Effectively troubleshoot systems up to 500 tons with 0% call

·         2 (Weekly/Monhtly) - Make recommendations to the improvement of service operations that can positively impact service delivery

·         3 (Daily) - Proactively arrange tools parts and equipment for task as required. Relative for proposals or execution

·         4 (Daily) - Execute effective communication with fellow technicians and administration for the continuity of customer service.

·         5 (Weekly) - Ensure company assets are maintained and that administration is advised of any defects

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • To lead the AC Team and supervise other trade teams, Electrical and Plumbing, stationed at CBTT.
  • Possess specific knowledge on the repairs and maintenance on chilled water air handlers, cooling towers and centrifugal chillers.
  • Have experience and knowledge of ducted AC systems and can offer guidance to a team as a first responder to air flow related issues.
  • Can communicate effectively with the client and occupants of the building to ensure proper delivery of customer service.
  • Able to lead all trade teams in following OSH HSE guidelines.
  • Attend work planning meetings.
  • To be an exemplary ABS representative on site.
  • Perform daily inspections of works performed and those in progress.
  • To work together as a team with all other supervisors and technicians from other trades.
  • Able to prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports in a timely manner.
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs ventilating and air conditioning systems up to liquid chillers and including other Residential, Commercial & Industrial systems.
  • Ensure a full complement of personal tools and test equipment is possession to ensure jobs are executed properly and without delays
  • Installs, maintains and repairs computerized electronic devices related to HVAC controls.
  • Prepares details scope requirements and pricing documents when necessary relative repairs
  • Identifies and recommends changes in technology that will enhance department operation and job efficiency.
  • Utilizes various measuring and testing instruments. E.g. millimetres, humidity testers, temperature recorders, mega testers, etc. for the execution of his duties.
  • Able to identify and make recommendations for replacement of defective components on an AC system.
  • Communicate with service admin frequently and effectively including calling in and out of jobs to ensure a high level of customer service delivery
  • Able interpret and analyse blueprints, piping and wiring diagrams for the purpose of troubleshooting or making recommendations.
  • Performs brazing, soldering, pipefitting relative to the installation and repair to AC systems of any size and type
  • Accurately fill job tickets complete all required parameters making sure to note advisories and recommendations as well as a detail of parts used.
  • Able to drive the company vehicle when the need arises.
  • In addition to such duties and responsibilities, you shall be required from time to time to perform other related activities as may be determined by your direct supervisor and adhere to such rules and regulations as Management may from time to time make and communicate to you.
