Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
The successful candidate should possess knowledge and practical experience in: • Industrial electrical maintenance. • Preventative and predictive maintenance practices. • Electrical distribution systems. • Standby generators and associated systems. • Electrical fault finding and troubleshooting. • Motors, starters, drives and control systems. • Electrical protection systems. • Industrial control and automation systems. • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics. • Maintenance planning and work-order systems. • Electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
To ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all electrical equipment, machinery and electrical systems throughout the Plant, including standby generators and the electrical distribution system. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the planning, coordination, supervision and monitoring of preventative and corrective electrical maintenance activities to maximize equipment availability, minimize downtime and support the Company's production and operational objectives.
The duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer include, but is not exclusive to:
Maintenance & Plant Reliability: Plan, schedule and monitor preventative and corrective maintenance activities; troubleshoot electrical faults; maintain accurate maintenance records; monitor equipment condition; and ensure the reliability and availability of electrical machinery, standby generators and the Plant's electrical distribution system.
Electrical Systems & Projects: Support electrical installations, upgrades, modifications, commissioning and improvement projects; provide technical assistance during breakdowns; and recommend measures to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and safety.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all electrical maintenance activities comply with Company safety rules, applicable legislation, electrical safety standards and established procedures, including appropriate isolation and lockout/tagout practices. Maintain good housekeeping and promote a strong safety culture.
Supervision & Staff Development: Supervise electrical maintenance personnel, including attendance, timekeeping, rostering, performance management, training, coaching and development, while ensuring employees have the necessary skills, tools and resources to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Tools, Materials & Stores: Ensure the availability and proper condition of tools, testing equipment, spare parts and materials; conduct periodic tool inspections; and liaise with Engineering Stores regarding technical specifications and procurement requirements.
Planning, Reporting & Projects: Keep the Plant Engineer/Manager informed of equipment status, maintenance activities, breakdowns and outstanding work; assist with maintenance planning, technical reports, cost estimates and engineering projects; investigate recurring equipment failures and recommend appropriate solutions; and perform other related duties as assigned.
