Pursuing Level 3 ACCA qualifications or any equivalent combination of training, qualifications, and experience. Five (5) years of relevant experience including supervisory experience.
Ability to effectively manage a team of junior staff. Deadline driven. Possess sound analytical and investigative skills. Exceptional Microsoft Office proficiency Excellent interpersonal, time management, and supervisory skills.
The Assistant Accountant is a key member of the Finance Team and provide support to the Chief Accountant. The incumbent will work closely with the Chief Accountant in managing the Finance Department ensuring that financial reporting processes are completed in an accurate and timely manner. The Assistant Accountant is responsible for directing and supervising the day-to-day activities of the junior accounting staff.
Key duties include:
Supervision of junior accounting staff to ensure that agreed workflows are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Provide support to the Chief Accountant in the preparation of Monthly Financial Statements and required internal and external reporting.
Data entry of Cash receipts, Bank adjustments, and Accruals, and processing of all General Journals into the accounting software.
Verification of Cheque payment vouchers and supporting documents.
Editing and Posting of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable batches.
Preparation of daily Bank Reconciliation statements.
Review and preparation of Key Account Reconciliations including intercompany accounts, ensuring intercompany billings are processed on a timely basis.
Assist with Stock Variance investigations.
Assist with coordination of External Audits.
Performs any other related duties as may be required by the function.
