Job Description

The HR Officer serves as an intermediate level generalist delivering efficient HR and IR support within a food manufacturing facility. Operating with some autonomy and discretion, this role drives the employee lifecycle—from talent acquisition and onboarding to industrial relations compliance and HR metrics—ensuring operational continuity, safety adherence, and a positive plant culture. This is a fantastic opportunity for an early-stage HR professional seeking to build generalist competencies.

Job Details / Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

·        Coordinate end-to-end recruitment workflows, including drafting job adverts, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and conducting background/reference checks.

·        Facilitate a seamless onboarding and orientation experience for plant and administrative hires to accelerate time-to-productivity.

·        Support the HR/IR Manager with specialized staffing initiatives, such as seasonal recruitment or technical role pipeline building.

 

2. Employee & Industrial Relations (ER/IR)

·        Serve as an impartial minute-taker and administrator during grievance meetings, union negotiations (if applicable), and formal disciplinary hearings.

·        Maintain complete, audit-ready records of all disciplinary actions, investigations, and union correspondence.

·        Assist in drafting and rolling out ER/IR tools, employee handbook updates etc.

 

3. Attendance, Leave & Rewards Administration

·        Track and audit soft and hard-copy leave records, ensuring alignment with attendance policies.

·        Proactively analyze leave data to identify attendance patterns, high balances, or potential policy abuses, bringing actionable insights to the HR/IR Manager.

·        Administer health benefit plans, serving as the daily contact point for employee inquiries and provider claims.

 

4. HR Analytics, HRIS & Systems Administration

·        Maintain the accuracy and security of employee master data in the personnel filing system.

·        Generate monthly HR operational reports and metrics (e.g., turnover rates, absenteeism, recruitment cycle time, overtime trends) for HRM review.

·        Prepare official employment contracts, letters, and policy documents using established legal templates.

 

5. Organizational Development & Training

·        Coordinate performance evaluation cycles, ensuring managers submit reviews on schedule.

·        Assist in executing training initiatives

·        Support knowledge management projects and other O&ED initiatives

 

6. Safety, Health & Environment (HSE) Compliance

·        Strictly adhere to and promote Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards across all HR operations and plant activities.

·        Participate in joint health and safety initiatives as required by the HR function.
