Professional Qualifications Required

• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment in an engineering capacity • Experience in a food manufacturing company would be an asset • BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering

Technical / Vocational Skills Required

• Must also possess sound knowledge of mechanical systems such as motors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes & pneumatics. • Sound knowledge of Power & controls, PLC & Scada systems • Experience in a supervisory capacity

Job Description

To support the maintenance department in the maintenance and development of plant and equipment in all areas, particularly those, which are technical, electrical, electronic, engineering, design, and installation related.

Job Details / Responsibilities

  • Ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all plant machinery, utilities, and systems in line with equipment uptime, preventive maintenance, and departmental KPIs, while ensuring compliance with electrical, statutory, food safety, quality, GMP, and health & safety regulations.
  • Plans, schedules, supervises, and executes preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities, including after-hours breakdown response, in coordination with production teams and management.
  • Leads and supervises maintenance personnel, including the Maintenance Planner/Assistant, and supports recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and food safety education within the maintenance department.
  • Designs, fabricates, installs, and improves plant equipment and systems to support continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Maintains accurate CMMS records, supports maintenance planning, manages inventory levels in collaboration with Stores, and liaises with suppliers to source parts, services, and quotations as required.
  • Identifies, reports, investigates, and corrects unsafe acts, incidents, near misses, and hazards, actively promoting a strong health and safety culture across the maintenance function.
  • Communicates equipment status, risks, and potential issues to the Plant Manager and/or Maintenance Manager to support effective work planning and decision-making.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Department Head.
