1. B.Sc. Agriculture or Agronomy, and minimum of 3 years related work experience, including a working knowledge of local agriculture
1. Possession of a valid Driver’s License with the ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle 2. Good knowledge of analytics, reporting and staff supervision techniques 3. Strong comfort in using Microsoft Office Suite 4. Any other suitable combination of qualifications and experience
The Agricultural Officer ensures that local produce is selected and purchased in the required timeframe/ amounts, in accordance with established Food Safety/ GMP specifications and at the most economical prices. S/he fosters mutually beneficial and long-term relationships with farmers and also supervises a team of skilled/ semi-skilled staff to ensure that fresh produce is partially processed in a cost-effective manner.
Key duties include:
· Continuously source and negotiate supplies of fruits and vegetables taking into account seasonal availability, market price fluctuations and production requirements.
· Monitor receipt of all produce to ensure that they conform to established specifications.
· Conduct field visits to monitor the overall availability of produce and progress made by farmers.
· Monitor usage of insecticides, etc. to ensure that raw materials conform to international standards.
· Supervise staff in accordance with established manufacturing procedures and quality control guidelines and provide oversight to the Fruit Area, proposing and implementing process improvements
· Maintain close working relationship with internal stakeholders in order to prioritise and fulfil production schedules.
