An Accounting Officer is responsible for managing an organization's financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and supporting financial decision-making. They handle tasks like preparing financial statements and reconciling accounts.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Study new and existing legislation, enforce adherence to requirements and advise management on needed actions that complies with federal, state and local financial legal requirements
· Provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data
· Guides accounting staff by coordinating activities and answering questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
· Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
· Maintain financial security by following internal controls
· Prepare asset, liability and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
· Document financial transactions and substantiate them by auditing documents
· Summarize current financial status by collecting information to prepare a balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports, statements and projections
· Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements
· Secure financial information by completing database backups
· Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing accounting information
· Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
