Job Description

The Production Manager will lead Shift Production Managers, Shift Managers and Production Crews to ensure the achievement of success in the Company’s production operations relative to its critical corporate objectives, through the maintenance and development of manufacturing techniques to meet world class customer company service and product quality.

Job Details / Responsibilities

The Production Manager duties and responsibilities includes, but is not specific to the following:

  • Overseeing the production processes of the Company to ensure conformity with quality standards, customer specifications and ensure that delivery deadlines are met.
  • Ensuring that industrial relations are practiced in accordance with the collective agreements for unionized employees.
  • Liaising with Planning and Sales to ensure internal production requirements are communicated to the Shift Production Managers, and Shift Managers within the stipulated time frames.
  • Ensuring adherence to the ISO 9001 procedures for all manufacturing and production processes.
  • Liaising with the Services Department, inclusive of Ink Kitchen, Forms,  Print Room, etc. to ensure co-operation with production personnel.
  • Developing, maintaining or improving on key performance indicators (KPIs) by achieving set targets in the areas of productivity, operational cost and waste management.
  • Making recommendations for improvements in production processes so that maximum efficiency and quality standards are achieved.
  • Developing and maintaining an annual plant budget to enable the attainment of all production targets in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintaining an efficient production team by identify training requirements for all staff in direct and indirect reporting relationships in order to maximize labour input.
  • Developing statistical process control systems (SPC) to ensure that all the Company’s targets are met.
  • Ensuring that the Company's safety rules and regulations and established safe working practices are complied with on the factory floor and immediate environs.
  • Ensuring that housekeeping and good manufacturing practices are maintained to the highest standard at all times.
  • Motivating staff to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity.
