Professional Qualifications Required

Diploma or Certificate in Graphic Design, Prepress Technology, Printing Technology or related field. Minimum of 3 years experience in a commercial printing or label manufacturing environment. Experience in digital or flexographic printing is preferred.

Technical / Vocational Skills Required

Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Photoshop. Strong understainding of digital prepress workflows. Knowledge of colour management, ICC profiling, Lab colour space, Delta E evaluation and spot colour management. Experience perparing artwork for digital and flexographic printing. Knowledge of PDF preparation and preflight procedures. Understanding of trapping, overprint, transparancy, bleed and finishing requirements. Familiarity with RIP software and digital press workflows. Ability to interpret customer artwork specifications. Knowledge of self-adhesive labels, flexible packaging, and converting processes is an asset.

Job Description

Responsible for preparing, verifying and managing customer artwork for digital label and flexographic printing. The role ensuresthat all files are technically accurate, colour-managed and production-ready while supporting efficient manufacturing, consistent print quality and continous improvements of prepress workflows.

Job Details / Responsibilities

Prepare customer artwork for digital label and flexographic production, ensuring all files meet company production standards.

Verify and preflight incoming artwork for correct dimensions, bleeds, fonts, image resolution, colour spaces, overprint settings, spot colours and technicial accuracy.

Create production-ready layouts, including label impositions, die lines, eye marks and finishing marks where required.

Generate and validate production-ready PDF files in accordance with the company's prepress workflow.

Ensure colour accuracy through the proper use of ICC profiles, colour management techniques, calibration standards and approved print specifications.

Perform colour corrections and spot colour conversions to achieve customer and production requirements.

Maintain artwork version control and ensure only approved files are released to production.

Liaise with customers, Sales, Estimating, Cistomer service and Production to resolve artwork and technical issues before production.

Troubleshoot artwork and prepress-related print quality issues, including colour reproduction, transparency, trapping and file preparations.

Develop, implement, maintain and continously improve prepress workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control processes to improve efficiency, reduce errors and ensure consistent print quality.

Support press operators with technical assistance related to artwork, colour and file preparation.

Maintain organised digital archives or artwork, die lines, templates and production files.

Assist in evaluating new substrates, print processes and workflow improvement.

Ensure compliance with company quality standards, customer specifications and production requirements.

Maintain confidentiality of customer artwork and proprietary information.
