WOMAN BUTCHERED

This can best describe the state of a woman’s body, discovered by police, cut in half, all limbs cut off and the parts stuffed in a blue plastic barrel floating on the Mitan River in Manzanilla on Tuesday night. The woman’s head has not yet been recovered although divers from the TT Coast Guard spent most of yesterday searching the depths of the river for it. TT Chamber of Industry and Commerce President Robert Trestrail yesterday said the Chamber is mindful of Labour Minister Jennifer Baptiste-Primus’ call for the private sector to help re-employ recently displaced workers. In making this point during an address to the Chamber’s annual business luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad, Port-of Spain, Trestrail said, “The TT Chamber membership is in great need of employees.” Read more…

Denmark the 'happiest country' and Burundi 'the least happy'

Denmark is the world's happiest country while Burundi is the least happy, according to a new survey.The fourth World Happiness Report also found that countries where there was less inequality were happier overall.Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Finland, which like Denmark have strong social security systems, made up the rest of the top five.
