The Proudly T&T Initiative
There was a time in Trinidad and Tobago when we had a unifying identity. We used to wave our flags proudly on Independence Day and carry our motto in our hearts. This sense of patriotism translated into being a good citizen in several ways from our everyday actions to momentous occasions.
Remember when Trinbagonians never used to litter? We used to have pride in how our country looked, its appearance and the conditions in which we operated.
Remember when Trinbagonians used to choose local products over foreign ones? Not because we didn’t like the foreign product, but because we had a sense of “This was made in my country, by my country and for me!” It was a sense of pride we took in our own.
Among the many calls for citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to support local or buy local, we wish to widen that discussion and encourage persons to think what it means to be a Trinbagonian again. To us at the TTMA, that core message of who we are should be the guiding principle for every action we take, word we speak and decision we make.
PROUDLY T&T AND THE TTMA
-
Manufacturing
The manufacturing sector employs 55,000 persons and in these trying times, a lot of our companies are doing their best to minimize job loss because our employees – your families - are important to us.
-
Tourism
After tourism, manufacturing is the second largest non-energy earner of foreign exchange for Trinidad and Tobago. We account for 10% of the national gross domestic product (GDP).
-
Products
Products made in Trinidad and Tobago are present in the international market. In fact, some of our indigenous manufacturers are so much in demand internationally that they have set up factories all over the world.
