Job Description

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklift equipment to load, unload, move, stack, and organise goods across the warehouse and compound. The role supports the day-to-day flow of warehouse operations by ensuring that stock, raw materials, and finished goods are handled accurately and in line with company safety procedures.

Job Details / Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Forklift Operation

  • Operate the forklift safely and responsibly in all areas of the warehouse and compound.
  • Complete daily pre-operational checks and report any defects, mechanical concerns, or damage immediately.
  • Maintain control of the forklift at safe speeds, observing right-of-way, blind spots, and pedestrian zones.

Stock and Goods Handling

  • Load and unload trucks, containers, and delivery vehicles in coordination with drivers and dispatch staff.
  • Move stock, raw materials, finished goods, and supplies to designated storage and staging areas.
  • Stack and store items securely to prevent damage, instability, or obstruction.
  • Assist with receiving, dispatching, and organising warehouse inventory.
  • Participate in stock counts, inventory checks, and general warehouse activities as required.

Safety and Housekeeping

  • Follow all company health, safety, and warehouse procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Keep aisles, exits, walkways, and loading areas clear and accessible at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Report damaged goods, safety hazards, near-misses, and operational issues to the supervisor promptly.

General Support

  • Assist with other warehouse and operations duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The role is based in a warehouse and outdoor compound environment. The Forklift Operator will spend
most of the shift operating equipment, with regular standing, walking, lifting, and moving of stock. The
work involves exposure to varying weather conditions when working in the compound, noise from
machinery, and movement around delivery vehicles and other warehouse equipment. Adherence to
safety procedures is required at all times.
