CARONI BIRD SANCTUARY

The Sanctuary is located on the west coast of Trinidad. A swampy area famed for the scarlet ibis, which arrive close to sunset in hundreds, to roost in the mangroves. This tour is by locally built flat bottom motor boat and is conducted by a resident naturalist guide. Other wildlife that is pointed out from the boat: 150 bird species, including ospray, herons, white flamingos, and egrets. Other possible sightings: tree boa, caiman, ant eater and goggle eyed fish.

ANGOSTURA AROMATIC BITTERS AND RUM DISTILLERY

What makes a Pink Gin cocktail pink, Angostura Bitters of course. The Angostura plant produces both the world famous Bitters and some world class rums. At the plant you view the magnificent Barcant butterfly collection, the Angostura Rum Museum, the Secret Room where the bitters' secret recipe is mixed, followed by a tour of the rum distillery with rum tasting and the option to purchase products from the Angostura shop.

MONKEYS, MACAWS & MANATEES OH MY!!

Join professional photographer and naturalist Stephen Broadbridge for a tromp through the Nariva Swamp. On this walking tour through the Bush area, you will have the opportunity to see the Red Howler and Capuchin monkeys, toucans; and possibly the endangered Manatee--all wonderfully indigenous to Trinidad. The swamp, located on Trinidad's east coast, is the largest fresh water wetland in the Caribbean. Nariva has been declared a Ramasar site (an internationally important and recognized wetland).

ASA WRIGHT NATURE CENTRE

Established in 1967 by a group of naturalists and bird watchers, to protect the local environment and to provide a conservation area for the enjoyment for all. The centre's main facilities are located on a former cocoa-citrus-coffee plantation, now converted into a tropical rain forest, a perfect setting for both local and visiting migratory birds to make their home. Here toucans, honey-creepers, banana quits, orpendolas, various tanagers, hummingbirds and even some tropical fauna like agoutis, and mattes are regular sightings. The resident naturalist guide will hike the discovery trail with you to point out the wonders of this environment.

A DAY IN TOBAGO

An early morning domestic flight gets you across to the sister isle Tobago, in 20 minutes, where you are met at the airport and proceed on some interesting sightseeing of Tobago's natural beauty and colourful history. Next is a glass bottom boat ride to the Buccoo reef and Nylon Pool for viewing through the glass and snorkeling followed by an invigorating swim in the Nylon Pool. Creole lunch at Renmars Beach Restaurant follows, after which you have Pigeon Point Beach for yourself until your 6pm return flight back to Trinidad.
